Hey I'm Lou!

Pawsome Adventures Training Academy really started with my dog training needs with my own dog, Duke. With a background in children's education and psychology, I've always had a passion for helping others and when Dukey first became a part of my life in 2015 I looked for ways to apply what I had learned to help him with the struggles he was facing.

Things like barking, pulling on the lead, resource guarding, chasing everything, what appeared to be random 'aggression' towards other dogs at times-you name it, Duke struggled! But nothing seemed to sit right or fit Dukey's nature and personality. I just couldn't find a solution that was a true fit for him, life had become frustrating and our walks weren't fun anymore... in fact they had become super stressful and something I dreaded rather than looked forward to.

Over the years I spoke to dog trainers, took courses related to dog behaviour and eventually became a certified Pro Dog Trainer GEEK through the company Absolute Dogs (the founders of games-based dog training) and this was my turning point for really making some actual progress with Duke. As a games-based dog trainer I'm finally able to make a real difference for him and truly understand why he has struggled in the ways he has as well as what i can do about that. I haven't quite reached my dog owning dream yet with Duke but for the first time in years I have hope that we'll get there- 'Naughty But Nice' dogs (coined by Absolute Dogs) like Duke can have a longer journey but for the first time ever we're on our way, as a real team, and games-based training is making the journey a super awesome and fun adventure for us.

So I guess you could say Duke has been my powerful why on my own personal pawsome adventure with him and now that has grown into a passion to help other people and their dogs too. It's simply what really lights me up and so my goal now is to make a difference for you and your dog too- to take the years of searching for the answer out of the equation for you and to help you and your dog become the most pawsome team you could dream of! I want to share the science that gets long lasting, real life results and get you loving your own pawsome adventure with YOUR dog- take that first step with your dog on their journey to becoming a su-paw hero and your adventure through life with them as a team can be truly transformed.

How your dog plays a game is how they play life and whatever your dog owning dream may be, there really is a game for that!
